REPORT FROM THE FIESTA COMMITTEE
Truth or Consequences, NM
May 6, 2008

THANK YOU, COMMUNITY!

The floats! The costumes! The music! The Rodeo! Citizens of Truth or Consequences and surrounding areas - the 2008 Fiesta Board warmly thanks you for making this Fiesta YOUR FIESTA!

Whether you were riding a horse in the parade, marching with HSHS band, checking out the many, many vendors and wacky contests at Ralph Edwards Park, watching the live and/or rubber duck races, singing in the Fiesta Idol competition, organizing an event, participating in an event, or observing an event - you contributed to the lively and festive celebration of TorC. Fiesta is part of our town's history and tradition, and it's the one thing that brings this town all together - and we want to thank YOU for making it happen!

We hope that you enjoyed this weekend as much as we did. Can you believe how many people we had in Ralph Edwards Park after such an exciting parade?! The creativity of the floats and the enthusiasm of everyone watching the parade was by far the best that we have seen in the past few years. Remember, our only goal is to make each Fiesta just a little better than the last, and because of you, we definitely succeeded! Ralph Edwards would be proud at the spirit we exhibited this month and all weekend, and hopefully our Green theme raised a li'l awareness and made you think about what you can do in your everyday life to reduce, reuse, and recycle (and rejoice!).

Many thanks go out to our city employees, Ed Ragsdale, and all of the boys with Parks & Rec - thank you for taking the time to come to our meetings, and for going above and beyond attending to the needs of Fiesta. Without you, Fiesta would not have been as smooth as it was. (And sincere apologies to whoever was manning the City Dispatch on Saturday night and received all of our insane phone calls every time "The James Douglas Show" blew out the electrical! Ralph Edwards Park just isn't wired for Funk yet. Hopefully we can work on that!)

There are so many people and businesses who became "Friends of Fiesta" and who contributed aluminum cans to the "Pitch in for a Green Fiesta" campaign, and because of your support, we are able to maintain and revive the tradition of Fiesta as a community-driven event. We hope to continue both of these fund-raising efforts throughout the year. Thank you to all of the folks on the Fiesta Board, and everyone who volunteered their time over the past month (and the past year) to organize Fiesta events--it's all of the parts coming together that make Fiesta so much fun!

If you would like to contribute your time, energy, or tax-deductible donation to next year's Fiesta, keep in touch with us! Our website, email address, and PO Box are up and running all year 'round. We are already starting to think about a theme for the 60th annual Fiesta...

Also, if you email us your best pictures from Fiesta Weekend, we will try to compile and post them on our website (but please self-edit - we can't post everything!).

Until next year..
VAYA CON DIOS!
